As promised, I've started writing a CMS based on PHP5, Zend Framework, MySQL5 and Smarty. It's looking very good. I was able to get the basic structure which I'll explain on the demo site, and I was able to drop the Smarty Include tags right into the default Joomla template and with a few tweaks the template came right up. This will make all the Joomla PHP templates easily convertible to NaniCMS.
There were a few challenges which is probably why that as of today, April 13, 2008, there are no real CMS's based on ZFE that have released files as evident by a quick search on Sourceforge. So, maybe this is one of the firsts. Internal name is NaniCMS named after my yellow Labrador Retriever. I've got a lot of work to do but I'm very optimistic. Thank you to all who contacted me for help or updates to JBridge and to check in on how JoomlaCart was doing.
As I explained, I was going to write JoomlaCart for Joomla 1.0x then 1.5x but the long delays in releasing 1.5 and the fact that most of what JoomlaCart needs won't be there until 1.6+, I've decided to abandon JoomlaCart and all the other hacks I've done. I've decided to dabble with a CMS in Zend Framework that follows the spirit of MVC top to bottom. Obviously that's going to take awhile but not 2 years. :) Until then do the best with what's available. Good luck.
